NYC GFree Eats

Babycakes
Fabulous donuts and a definite destination spot.

Bar Breton – Flatiron
Overpriced buckwheat galettes and overpriced drinks. Kind of a novelty, I guess.

Bar Suzette Crepes – Chelsea
Yum! Chelsea Market must-go. The sweet nutella crepes and savory veggie crepes are amazing. Very careful about cross-contamination and friendly.

Big Booty Bread Co. – Chelsea
A variation of Pao de Queijo, chewy and cheesy buns perfect for sandwiches or snacking.

Bistango – Midtown East
Classic Italian done gluten free. Go here if you want to be able to join the table in the bread basket. Gluten free ravioli are a specialty and rarity.

Cafe Habana – SoHo
Naturally gluten free food and mojitos, but make sure to tell them about your dietary needs.

Eataly – Flatiron
Crazy gluten free desserts, including tiramisu and gelato. Schar products, and great coffee.

Friedman’s Lunch – Chelsea Market
Sandwiches and deli food done gluten free.

Lili’s 57 – Midtown
Chinese favorites like General Tso’s shrimp, plus quality sushi and gf beer.

Lula’s Sweet Apothecary – East Village
Perfect to cool down on a hot day. Unique ice cream flavors made with care and special catering to gf patrons.

Madeline’s Patisserie – Flatiron
Classic French macaroons.

Mozzarelli’s – Flatiron
Pick up a slice of pizza and amazing desserts (carrot cake, mocha cake, and tiramisu are to die for).

Pala Pizza – Lower East Side
Best gluten free pizza in NYC.

Paprika – East Village
Green eggs and polenta here is the perfect brunch food.

Peter’s – Upper East Side
Delicious fries and classic diner fare (pancakes, tuna melts, french toast). Wish I could have gone here more often as their menu is giant.

Pommes Frites – Lower East Side
Best fries ever in the world. About 100 dipping sauces and a hidden gem.

Rice to Riches – SoHo
Over 20 flavors of gluten free rice pudding that you can add toppings to. Try the pecan pie!

Risotteria – West Village
Bread sticks, shrimp pizza, and risotto in the cooler months. Fun place to meet other gf people as the tables are right next to one another.

Rubirosa – Soho
Amazing vodka sauce pizza. Also have gluten free pasta, calamari, meatballs, and mozzarella sticks. Serves Estrella Damm Daura beer.

Terri Organic Vegetarian – Flatiron
Gluten free wraps and cupcakes. Note: they used to have gluten free vegetarian “chicken” but it is no longer gluten free. Ask them what you can substitute.

Vic’s Bagel Bar – Murray Hill
The real deal – best gluten free bagel you can get, plus custom-make your own cream cheese for it.

Wondee Siam – Theater District
BYOB thai food that is as authentic as it comes.

  1. Hi, I am going to be in NYC for a few days in November and will definitely use this list. I check out your blog every once and a while and just wanted to say thanks for having this post. It is a relief to know I am going up there with a pretty long list of places where I can eat without worry. I am sure my friends who are hosting me will appreciate this also, since they have no idea what gluten is.
